The New River Gorge is one of the most popular rock climbing and rappelling destinations in America! Not only is West Virginia home to America’s Best Whitewater®, it also boasts some of America’s best rock climbing. Within the 63,000 acres of the New River Gorge National Park there are miles and miles of cliff offering something for everyone from beginner to advanced; so much in fact that you’ll never have to climb the same route twice! These climbing routes offer fantastic scenery overlooking the New River.
Certified, accredited guides provide all gear and instruction. Guides are also local climbers with the skills to safely manage a climbing environment that truly does offer something for everyone. With cliffs ranging from 30 feet to well over 100, and stretching along 15 miles of the river, these trips offer views of the national park that can’t be matched!
4-Hour, Half-Day Rock Climbing – Our most popular program and a fantastic introduction to climbing, family outing, or great way brush up on your climbing techniques. Half days usually consist of top-roping, or single pitch routes, but can include multi-pitch climbs for more advanced climbers. All necessary climbing gear is included in our price, including shoes, harness, helmet and belay device. Perfect for beginner through advanced climbers. No previous experience is necessary. Tour meets at the Canyon Rim Visitors Center.
2-Hour, Evening Rappel – This amazing sunset rappelling experience is perfect for guests who may have other daytime activities already planned and want to pack in an evening adventure too! All necessary gear is included in our price, including shoes, harness, helmet and belay device. Perfect for beginners. No previous experience is necessary. Tour meets at the Canyon Rim Visitors Center.
8-Hour, Full-Day Climbing and Rappelling – Get individual attention from your guides! Be guided up a multi-pitch route, go top roping and/or get specific rock climbing instruction on techniques, gear placement, anchor building, self rescue, rappelling or anything else you may be interested in. The day or days are yours, and our guides are focused on just you! All necessary climbing gear is included in our price, including shoes, harness, helmet and belay device. For beginner through advanced climbers. Tour meets at the Canyon Rim Visitors Center.
Basic trip information-Guests should wear closed-toed shoes along with attire suitable for a day in the woods. Workout attire is great for the hiking, climbing, and scrambling through the woods that takes place on our trips. The weather here can change quickly. Guests should anticipate the weather and bring appropriate clothing. Any extra items can be secured in locked vehicles. Guests with long hair should bring a hair tie. All gear is provided but a small backpack for personal items can be helpful. We always encourage our guests to bring cameras, smart phones, or Go-Pros, to capture memories of their trip. The minimum age is 8 years old. We offer one on one trips and can accommodate up to 24 people.
