When you take your first whitewater rafting trip, you can be sure that your guides will make sure you know everything you need to in order to have an enjoyable and safe trip. Having said that, we have a few tips that every first time rafter can remember before they hit the water. Keep reading for our favorite tips!
- Choose an appropriate trip: There are a number of different levels of whitewater rafting that trips can take place at. If it is your first time, it is definitely a wise choice to lean on the side of caution if you’re not sure what level to raft at. You may find it helpful to speak with your rafting outfitters ahead of time so that they can help you make the best choice for your group.
- Listen to your guide: Guides are guides because they’ve had extensive training in not only rafting, but also in other important aspects of any outdoor adventure, such as first aid. They also have a much better understanding of the impacts that little things could have, that the average first-time rafter wouldn’t notice. In other words, just listen! (and your trip will be much more enjoyable too)
- Enjoy yourself!: Whitewater rafting is meant to be fun, and as long as you follow these simple steps. And remember, if you’re ever unsure about something, you can always ask your guide. Oh, and don’t forget, at the end of your trip you’ll be able to check out awesome videos and photos of your whitewater adventure – almost the best part 😉
