Ahh, winter. While we do love the unmatchable beauty of snow-tipped mountains and serene but icy rivers, we can’t help but to miss those long summer days on the water. Having said that, if you’re looking for your next winter vacation, the New River Gorge has more than just whitewater rafting available, so it’s definitely high time to get booking! Not sure what to do on your trip, check out some winter fun in the NRG that we would fully recommend as almost a reasonable replacement for whitewater rafting 😉
Love ziplines? Us too! And although there’s something about flying through lush treetops, there’s also something to be said for traveling noiselessly above the frozen landscape. If you’re looking for a unique and unforgettable way to view the gorge this winter, this should definitely be on your to do list.
If you prefer to stay inside but are still looking for a little local flavor, why not pay a visit to the Historic Fayette Theater. Looking for a way to celebrate the holidays and the New Year? Check out their winter schedule for this year’s holiday events.
Love salsa? Well really, who doesn’t? Especially when it is locally made and delicious! Join Blue Smoke Salsa this winter for warming and filling kettle cooked salsa samples and a tour where you can watch the team in their salsa making action!
If a zip line adventure has peeked your interest in a slightly higher flying view of the New River Gorge, why not try a WWII era biplane? With Wild Blue Adventure Company you can! A number of different trips are available, but you can be sure they will all be totally unforgettable.
If you’re up for a quick drive an hour south, you can visit the incredible Winterplace Ski Resort and hit the slopes! Choose from skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing across a variety of different levels – so there’s definitely something for everyone.
So it’s possible with all these different options at your disposal, you might not even want springtime to come back in 2017?
OK. Maybe not. But it does help to have some activities to help pass the long and cold winter months. Or so we’ll have to do until our next trip down to Australia works out that is 😉
