Memorial Day Madness!

Memorial Day has been a national holiday since the enactment of the National Holiday Act in 1971. While the actual day had fluctuated up until this point, it was then decided that Memorial Day would occur on the last Monday in May every year. This holiday serves as respect for those who passed defending America’s freedom (and oftentimes, the freedom of many other countries) in wars throughout history.

While it is extremely important that we all take some time on Memorial Day to remember all of our brave veterans (present and past), it is also important for us to celebrate the lives they lived and the freedoms that they thought so hard to protect for us.  So, this Memorial Day, take time to pay your respects for those who lived for America, but also take some time to enjoy the outdoors and the country that they protected.

To some, Memorial Day also marks the unofficial beginning of the summer, with  a long 3 day weekend – and generally lots of sunshine and warm temperatures!
