River Expeditions Announces Rafting Packages for Greenbrier PGA Tour Week 2013
The Greenbrier Classic is a key tournament on the PGA Tour, with golfers vying for the Fed Ex Cup and an over $6.3 million purse, the excitement is high. The Greenbrier Resort is a beautiful host for the event, which begins on July 1st and continuing through July 7th. River Expeditions will be offering golf fans an opportunity to experience more of what West Virginia has to offer, with half or full days of rafting, only an hour away from the green.
“People usually come for the entire week of the Greenbrier tournament, so they often have some free time to explore the areas around the resort,” says Rick Johnson, Owner of River Expeditions. “White water rafting is a great activity for the whole family, and is a unique opportunity to experience nature without a long drive.”
Details on packages and pricing for tournament specials can be obtained by calling River Expeditions at 1-800-463-9873.
The New River is a scenic and recreational experience full of natural and cultural history in addition to hours of fun and adventure. White water rafting, kayaking, fishing, and scenic float trips are just a few of the activities available in the area. The river splits into two distinct sections, with the Upper New River, which consists of gentle waves and pools for the beginning rafter, aged 6 or higher. The Lower New River Gorge provides an exciting contrast as “The Grand Canyon of the East”, with faster waters perfect for the adrenaline junkie.
White water rafting consists of navigating the New River on an inflatable raft in waters that are approximately 70 degrees during the summer. Trips are usually 5-7 hours, including lunch. No experience is needed on the gentle sections of the river. The ability to swim is also not required, but it is helpful. Each guest’s safety is a priority, and all guests are equipped with a Coast Guard approved Type V Life Jacket, Paddle, and Helmet.
